Parking Enforcement

No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle for longer than 30 minutes between 2:00am and 6:00am on any city street. If you have company in for the weekend or a special need to temporarily park on the street overnight, please call the Waupaca Police Department at 258-4400 to make the request.

The city has a number of public parking lots in the downtown area including:

  • Granite / N. Washington Street
  • Cooper Street in Rotary Riverview Park
  • Behind the City Hall-Library building
  • Fulton / S. Washington Street
  • Union Street (across from the Fire Department)

Many of the streets in the downtown area have a two-hour time limit on parking, while the above lots allow for all-day parking for free. Some of the lots allow overnight parking. An annual overnight parking lot permit may be purchased on the city website at an annual cost of $120. The permit year starts October 1st, and permits purchased after this date are pro-rated.

Parking is further prohibited upon any portion of a street right of way between the curb line or the edge of the roadway and the property line (this area is commonly known as the terrace).

The Waupaca Police Department encourages all motorists to comply with the parking restrictions, which allows the Public Works Department the opportunity to keep the city streets and parking lots free of snow and debris year round.

Overnight Parking Permits

City of Waupaca ordinances requires anyone parking in a designated city parking lot between the hours of 2:00am and 6:00am to purchase a parking permit. The permits are valid for 1 year, beginning on October 1 every year. Pro-rated permits for the remainder of the year are issued as well. The cost of the permit is $120.00 for the year. You may obtain an overnight parking permit on our SmartGov licensing system.

Downtown Parking Lots

The following downtown parking lots allow for unrestricted parking in Waupaca’s downtown during daytime hours (outside of 2am-6am).  Some lots allow overnight parking, with permit, detailed above.
