Overnight Parking Restrictions

The Waupaca Police Department would like to remind motorists that parking is prohibited between the hours of 2 a.m. – 6 a.m. in the City of Waupaca. No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle or personal property for longer than 30 minutes between the hours of 2 a.m. – 6 a.m. upon any street or public parking lot which the city has an interest. Overnight parking is allowed in certain parking lots provided the vehicle has an overnight parking permit issued by the City Clerk. Permits are issued on October 1 of each year and expire on September 30th the following year. The cost of the permit is $120.00 and the permit must be clearly displayed on the rear window.

The City of Waupaca has posted official traffic signs as required by WI Statutes 349.13 advising motorists that parking is prohibited on any City Street between the hours of 2 a.m. – 6 a.m. These signs are located at or reasonably near the corporate limits of the city. The fines for violating this ordinance is currently $15.00, although if the fine is not paid within 10 days, fines can increase and the registration may be subject to suspension. Any vehicle in violation of 7.01, Parking Regulations, is deemed to be a traffic hazard to public safety and can be towed at the department’s discretion, causing increased penalties for the owner. In certain circumstances, permission can be granted for motorists to park on the city street provided the department is notified by the registered owner. This can be accomplished in person or by notifying the police department by telephone.

The Waupaca Police Department encourages all motorists to comply with the parking restrictions, which allows the Public Works Department the opportunity to keep the city streets and parking lots free of snow and debris year round.

Overnight Parking Permits

Please stop by City Hall located at 111 S. Main Street to fill out an application and obtain your parking permit sticker.
